Finding the Space to Lead, A Practical Guide to Mindful Leadership, author Janice Marturano
This is such a beautiful book and one I have returned to often. I was so blessed to discover this amazing book in 2014, when I was on holidays in Maui. At the time I was working for a large engineering firm and knew my project role was coming to an end which would result in a layoff. I had been juggling many different things for a long time and all I wanted to do was rest and walk.
I was looking for something to read and I picked up this beautiful book. I have returned to Finding the Space to Lead and Janice Marturano’s work many times.
This is one of the most inspirational and thought-provoking books for mindful change and being present I have read in many years.
Finding the Space to Lead was my first introduction to meditation. One of the meditations I was first introduced to was a walking meditation. At the time, I was in Hawaii and I was so busy ruminating and making lists in my head I was struck by several waves and landed in the sand on my butt. On my return to Vancouver I reflected on so much in this book started incorporating some of these ideas in my daily life.
These were my first steps in starting to listen to myself and invest in my self care.
How often do we actually listen to our intuition?
We have an opportunity to listen to ourselves and put in stronger practices by listening to our intuition by being more mindful.
Building on this incorporating more intuitive eating, taking time to pause, listen and be more present.
Highlighted throughout this book are many reflective practices and meditations you can consider.
One of my favorites is the calendar reflection.
Taking time to reflect on your day and consider what is essential and a priority looking at your goals is one of the greatest investments in yourself you can make.
If you have not had a chance to read this book I highly recommend it.
What small steps will you take this week to be more intuitive to listen to learn?
Be nourished in all you do.
