Supporting Dixon Transition Society
I had the true joy to drop off a contribution to the Silent Auction for 9th Annual Jazz Event being held in support of Dixon Transition Society. The Nourished Executive has a strong commitment to giving back and lifting others.
For the past several years we have been supporting the work of Dixon Transition Society.
The Annual Jazz event has become one of our family traditions along with contributing to the Silent Auction.
As each of are finding our way navigating these waters filled with uncertainty, we wanted to not only build a contribution for the Silent Auction for Dixon Transition Society we also wanted to support small businesses.
In putting together our contribution, we featured some local businesses which included:
- Harmonic Arts
- Level Ground Trading
- The gorgeous work of Heather Goldminc ceramic artist
- Art cards capturing some of our founder’s photos from Vancouver and the Island
- The ReKnew Countertop cookbook, featuring some of my recipes including the Oat Bars (on April 8th) and the Gluten Free Earl Grey Shortbread (on Dec 13th)
- All in a gorgeous Emile Lasagna pan.
Through the generosity of many the Silent Auction was possible.
Dixon Transition Society is an amazing organization that provides services including safe housing, support and counselling for women and children impacted by violence. Finding ways to support women and children fleeing domestic violence continues to be so important.
This year’s event was to be a live on-line event featuring the amazing jazz talents of Glenda Rae, Brett Wade and Miles Black. Sadly due to the COVID restrictions the live event was cancelled, to ensure everyone could stay safe. Dixon Transition Society holds so many beautiful events.
A special thanks to Brian Fraser for creating space for this event, and all the former and current staff and board members who continue to be part of this very important work. This year’s event has now been postponed to the spring 20201 with the hope we can come together in support of this amazing organization.
The need for so many is so great. Be kind. Be patient. Take good care. Looking for those ways you can make a difference in the lives of others.
Be nourished in all you do.
Sharon
